How Allied Wire & Cable Ships

Preferred Method 1

pref1

Preferred Method 1 consists of a single reel standing on its side. The reel is then bonded to a cradle. This method is for heavy reels from 24 inches through 96 inches and is for single reels only.

Alternative Method 1

alt1

Alternative Method 1 consists of a reel laying flat, banded to a pallet. This method is acceptable only when a cradle is not readily available. The cable should be tightly covered with stretch wrap to prevent cascading and used for 48 inches or smaller.

Alternative Method 3

alt3

Alternative Method 3 consists of three same or mixed sized reels. These reels are stacked and banded to a pallet. This method should be avoided, if possible, and is acceptable only if a cradle option isn’t readily available. This method may be necessary, however, to prevent multiple skids for international shipping. The cable should be tightly covered with stretch wrap to prevent cascading and used for 48 inches or smaller.

Preferred Method 2

Preferred Method 2 consists of multiple reels standing on their sides. These reels are then bonded to a cradle. This method is for heavy reels from 36 inches down to 18 inches and can hold 2 to 6 reels depending on the reel and cradle used.

Alternative Method 2

alt2

Alternative Method 2 consists of two same or mixed sized reels. These reels are double stacked and banded to a pallet. This method is acceptable only if a cradle isn’t readily available. The cable should be tightly covered with stretch wrap to prevent cascading and used for 48 inches or smaller.

Cascaded Cable

cascaded

The cable that is shipped flat on a pallet has the potential to cascade or fall away from the top flange. This creates a gap that can cause problems during the unreeling process.
