What is TXL Wire?
Our TXL wire is an extra-thin wall automotive primary wire. It is commonly used in applications where high heat resistance is a requirement. Common applications include the engine compartments of boats, tractors, buses, trucks, instrument panels, interiors, and a wide variety of other automotive applications. If your next application requires a wire with a small diameter and minimal weight, our TXL Automotive Wire is exactly what you need.
Construction
TXL wire features a stranded single bare copper conductor and chemically cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation. The stranded conductor provides extra flexibility. The XLPE insulation provides resistance to high temperatures, moisture, most solvents, and other environmental factors that are commonly found in automotive applications. We offer 22 AWG to 8 AWG TXL Wire with a variety of spool sizes.
Specifications
TXL Wire has a recommended temperature range of -40C to +125C and a voltage rating of 50V. This automotive primary wire is recommended for use in applications where high-temperature resistance and small overall diameter are necessary. It also meets SAE J-1560, Chrysler (MS-8288), and Ford (M1L-123A) specifications.
Additional Types of Cross-linked Automotive Primary Wire
TXL wire is one of the many cross-linked primary wires we carry. Allied Wire and Cable also offers SXL and GXL wire. Both of these wires also feature cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, but TXL has the thinnest insulation wall. All of our cross-linked primary wires meet SAE-J1128 but have varying Chrysler and Ford approvals.
Type SXL Wire has a standard wall/insulation thickness. It has excellent resistance to heat and abrasion. It is ideal for general circuit wiring and has a temperature range of -40°C to 125ºC. It meets Ford M1L-85A and Chrysler MS-5919 specs.
Type GXL Wire has a thin wall/insulation thickness. It has a small diameter and excellent heat resistance. This wire is most commonly used in trucks and trailers and has a temperature range of -40°C to 125ºC. GXL Wire meets Ford M1L-85B and Chrysler MS-8900 specs.
Value-Added Services
All of our automotive primary wires can be customized with value-added services to make identification easy. Popular value-added services include adding up to three stripes (also known as tracers) for wires used in wire harnesses. Jacketing can also be printed with custom text, numbers, and even company logos!
