Custom Marine Cable from Allied Wire & Cable

Much like boat cable, marine cables are highly resistant to water and can withstand temperatures up to 105 degrees celsius. Custom Marine Cables are generally used for circuit wiring in marine applications that are exposed to the elements. Marine cables often have a larger gauge size than regular wires, and each of the individual strands is tinned and finer than what is found in normal wiring. Weight is a big consideration for our customers ordering custom marine cable especially for race or military applications. Our Custom Marine Cable Solution

One customer, an innovative LED lighting manufacturer, approached Allied Wire and Cable to help design a custom marine cable that they needed quickly. The customer’s assigned sales representative was able to help design a custom cable with a quick lead time.

This custom marine cable was a 22 AWG with a tinned, 7/30 stranded copper conductor. The color code of the conductors was also customized to be black, red, green, and blue. The insulation and white jacket were both made of PVC. The custom cable was rated to 300 volts with a temperature range of 0 degrees Celsius to 90 degrees Celsius.

This was not the first time Allied Wire and Cable had designed a custom cable for this customer. This marine cable had been previously designed for them, but the color code was updated with this order. The sales representative helping this customer was able to apply this new color code to their old design, as well as improve the price and lead time. Additionally, this customer received their custom cable within only two weeks of the order date.
